Tree planting in honor of our pioneers.
As part of the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, the FFSQ and Industry Council of Quebec proposed the project to honor a pioneer by planting a tree.
Our Association and the Champagne families joined the project and on June 21st 2008, at 2:00 p.m., an elm tree was planted in honor of one of our ancestors Pinard.
This is Guillaume Pinard / Beauchemin, married to Marguerite Clair / Cler who settled in Nicolet with seven children. His descendants populated the region and is still present today. The elm tree planted in his honor is located in the « Parc Marguerite d'Youville» in Nicolet (near the bridge Pierre-Roy).
La Pinardière of June 2008 (Vol. 29 No. 2) and September 2008 (Vol. 29 No. 3) features two stories on the event. A series of photos is also available on the website of the Association, under "Activities 2008".
